Can't recommend this Thai restaurant enough.  Mixed starter and a red hot Ruby Curry, washed down with a couple of Singha beers is always good.

Atlantis

With the credit crunch hitting, affordable was the call to action.  So we visited the trusted Atlantis for Keftedakia for starters, Lamb Kebabs, Ice Cream and some house red wine.  Hit the spot, and all around £20 each.

Charlottes Place

We had heard lots about this place but had never got around to visiting it.  Set in a really great location, just by Ealing Common, it looked very inviting.  The staff were great, very professional and attentive without being overly in your face or too grovally!  Quite contemporary and modern inside, the menu wasn't too big.  Portions were small although very imaginative.  The food was modern English and pretty good.  In hindsight the smallish portions were judged just right as you weren't too full to enjoy the great puds they had on offer.  The lamb was perfectly cooked, although seemed a little cold, however that was a small gripe.  Would definitely go back, good for a few people dining together.

The Walpole

Last week we visited The Walpole in South Ealing after numerous recommendations from friends.  It was a great experience and not too expensive, just over £70 with service included, 3 courses with wine and a cocktail.  The menu was well constructed and simple, 4/5 starters 4/5 mains and 4/5 desserts.  Big portions so be careful!!

A nice touch was the owner taking the time to talk to everyone at each table to let them know exactly what each dish comprised of, where the ingredients came from and how it was prepared.  She even said 'you can mix and match if you like'.  Which if you are on a no carb diet if fab!  The only problem was that it confused you as just when you thought you had made your mind up what to have her description really made you think again.   

The atmosphere was good and it appeared there were lost of returning customers which is always a good sign - I am looking forward to going back.
